Chiddinglye is a private home set in a magical garden in the middle of a working farm on a plateau in the High Weald, intersected by deep wooded valleys with sandstone outcrops. We are an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and a Site of Special Scientific Interest, yet within 10 miles of Gatwick and 35 miles of Central London.
Our 11 acres of garden comprise some rare and exotic Himalayan species, first laid out in 1865. The avenue of Californian Redwoods includes some of the tallest trees in England. And our woods contain bluebells, mosses, lichens and briophytes amongst spectacular sandstone outcrops. All of this is available for film shoots or for parties and weddings in the walled garden or in our 17th Century timber-frame barn.
As well as being a working farm with arable crops we run a biomass district heating system which is used to heat 4 dwellings and various workshops on the estate and also with the use of a custom made drying floor we dry woodchip for sale.
Please take a tour around our site and contact us if you are interested in any of our businesses.
